PRIVACY

What we collect, why, and who else handles it. Last updated 3 August 2026.

The short version

We collect very little. If you subscribe to our updates we store your email address so we can send them. If you buy something, our payment provider handles the transaction and we never see your card details. If you message us, we get what you typed. We count page visits with a tool that sets no cookies and does not identify you.

Our software runs on your computer. Your models, your rigs, your skin weights and your projects stay there. We never receive them.

WHO WE ARE

FabricatorStudio LLC, 13481 Pecos St., Westminster, CO 80234, United States. We make Maya pipeline tools and the Armature application, and we publish this site.

If you want to reach us about anything on this page, email adrian@fabricator.studio.

WHAT WE COLLECT, AND WHY

If you subscribe to updates

What
Your email address, and the date you subscribed.
Why
To send you release notes, new tools, and pipeline tips.
Legal basis
Your consent, which you give by confirming your subscription.
How long
Until you unsubscribe, after which we remove you from the list.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us and we will remove you.

If you buy something from us

What
Your name, email address, and the billing details needed to complete the sale and charge the correct tax.
Why
To take payment, send your receipt and your download, and keep the records tax law requires.
Legal basis
Performance of our agreement with you, and our legal obligation to keep tax records.
How long
As long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep the record, which is several years.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. It goes to Stripe directly and we receive only confirmation that the payment succeeded, along with the information we need to send your purchase and account for the sale.

If you contact us

What
Your name, your email address, and whatever you write in your message.
Why
To read your message and reply to it.
Legal basis
Our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.
How long
As long as we need to handle your enquiry and any work that follows from it.

The contact form is delivered by Web3Forms, which passes your message to our email and does not use it for anything else.

When you visit the site

What
The page you viewed, the site that referred you, your browser type and screen size, and the country you are in.
Why
To understand which pages and tools people find useful.
Legal basis
Our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
How long
Indefinitely, as aggregate counts that are not linked to any person.

We use GoatCounter for this. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. Your IP address is used to determine your country and is then discarded rather than stored.

If you use Armature

Armature is licensed software, so it checks your licence with our server.

What
Your email address if you sign in for the free Indie licence, or your licence key if you bought a Commercial seat. When Armature activates, it also sends a random identifier the app generates for that installation, a fixed device label, and the app version.
Why
To confirm your licence is valid, unlock the app, and enforce the two-device seat limit.
Legal basis
Performance of our agreement with you.
How long
As long as your account or licence is active. Devices you deactivate come off your seat list.

The installation identifier is a random value the app creates on your machine. It is not derived from your hardware, and it is not your computer's name: the device label is the same fixed text for every installation. Reinstalling or clearing app data creates a new identifier.

Those fields are the only things the activation call sends. No project data, no file names, no usage information rides along with it. Once activated, Armature keeps working offline for a period without contacting us, and re-checks silently when you are back online.

Licence keys and sign-in links are stored hashed on our server, so a stolen copy of our database would not contain a usable key.

Armature also checks for updates by fetching a small version file from our download host. It sends no account or licence information. Like any download it reaches our host with your IP address, which is covered by the server logs described above.

When you download our software

Our hosting and download providers keep standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as a normal part of delivering files and defending against abuse. We do not use these logs to identify individuals, and we do not combine them with anything else.

WHAT OUR SOFTWARE DOES NOT DO

The FabricatorStudio Maya toolset and the Armature application run locally on your machine.

Where the software downloads a component the first time you use a feature, such as the machine learning model used for automatic skin weights, it tells you before it does, it happens only because you asked for that feature, and it is fetched from the component's publisher rather than from us.

Armature does contact our licence server when you sign in or activate, and the "If you use Armature" section above lists exactly what that check sends. It is the only call the app makes about you.

WHO ELSE HANDLES YOUR DATA

We use a small number of service providers. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, and each acts on our instructions.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising. We have never done either and we do not intend to.

WHERE YOUR DATA GOES

We are based in the United States, and some of our providers are too. MailerLite is based in the European Union. If you are in the EU, UK, or another region with data transfer rules, your information may be transferred to and stored in the United States under the standard safeguards our providers have in place.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights over the personal data we hold about you.

Email us and we will action any of these. We will not charge you and we will not make it difficult. If you are in the EU or UK and you think we have handled your data badly, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

The site stores one small item in your browser's local storage to remember that you have already seen the newsletter prompt, so it does not keep reappearing. It contains no personal information, it never leaves your browser, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Stripe may set cookies necessary to process your payment securely and to prevent fraud, on its own checkout pages.

CHILDREN

Our tools are made for professional and hobbyist developers and artists. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and you are subscribed to our updates, we will tell you in an email rather than expecting you to notice.
